Summer has arrived my friends! It’s been four days since the summer solstice
and we have gone through our first heat wave.
Yay! Congrats to everyone who
hasn’t melt yet, but if you’re like me, cooling down isn’t the only issue. Was your hair a total mess during the last couple
of days? Is your skin completely burn
from the sun? Are you in desperate need
of tricks and ideas on how to keep your skin glowing and your hair
healthy? If you answered yes to one of
these questions, then you are in the right place!
As much as we love summer, we do
hate the way it makes our beauty routine a lot more complicated. However, it won’t be this hard to make it
through the entire season if you use the following tips to survive-summer-without-having-to-shave-your-head-or-look-like-burned-loobster.
First, put sunscreen on!
It can be obvious for some of you,
but for the others that have already used a complete bottle of aloe, you might
want to continue reading.
Sunscreen is your best friend. Nathaly or Nick won’t protect you from UV
rays, but Coppertone will! This is why
over summer you need to share yourself between a couple of BFFs. Don’t worry, we don’t judge if you share
yourself between Nathaly, Coppertone and your favorite moisturizer. It’s for the better. So the important part is to choose a
sunscreen that feels good on and has a high FPS. Here is my top three.
Coppertone is a great choice if you’re on a
budget! I understand you don’t have 35$
to spend on sunscreen, that’s fine, but you need to have 10$ to prevent skin
cancer. I say it’s a great
investment! Remember, the higher the FPS
the better. If you have sensitive skin,
go with a FPS 50 OR 60.
Anthelios from La Roche Posay is my favorite
and the one I use every morning. The
fluid texture penetrate the skin easily and feels very light. It’s also a good make-up primer. It has a FPS 60 and smells like summer (a
fresh breeze), not like summer camp (50 kids wearing kids protection that
smells like banana). The price is okay,
around 30$, and it’s compact. I carry my
sunscreen in my purse. Yes friends, I am
that obsessed with sun protection!
Neutrogena is a great pick if you want to
protect every member of your family and need to be quick in the morning,
because your kids can’t stay in one place for over a minute. It’s affordable and it’s not too sticky on
your skin. That’s actually a good point
because you can dress right after putting on your sunscreen.
Now follow these :
#1 Don’t cover your face with
foundation
Whether you like it or not, you will
sweat and you want to have the lightest make-up possible! A mixture of heavy foundation and sweat is
not pretty! If you really want to cover
something up, simply use a bit of foundation on the unwanted spot.
#2 Mix your sunscreen and
moisturizer together
Why?
Because you will hydrate your skin while protecting it! Isn’t it amazing? I’ve been doing this for a couple of years
now and my skin always feels good.
#3 Wear a tinted lip balm
Your lips are going to need
hydration because Mr. Sun is careless.
He doesn’t care if you have the biggest night of your life planned, he
will dry your lips as much as he wants.
That’s how he is. So make your
lips happy and look good with the color of your dreams! By the way, Clinique has some amazing lip
balms that are easy to apply!
#4 Waterproof mascara!
It’s summer! We all want to swim, but we don’t want to
look like a raccoon. This is when
waterproof mascara comes in. Apply and
boum, you’ll have pretty eyes all day! Hypnôse
from Lancôme is great! Don’t forget to
use a gentle eye make-up remover that has oil in it. Yes it feels weird at first, but if you clean
your face after, everything is going to be fine.
Then treat your hair with respect!
Now if you don't want frizzy and damaged hair, you need to feed them. Feed them? Yes, with products that will first, hydrate your hair and second, protect them from the sun. What should you use? Anything that your hairdresser suggests! You can also peek into your favorite magazines. They usally have a good round-up of the best products for all hair types. My go-to collection : KÉRASTASE. They have all kind of hair products that works for a good price!
After you have treated your hair, you need to style it! How to wear my hair when it's 1000°C outside? That is the question. I suggest that you wear it up in something else than a poney tail! It's time to get creative and to try the three hairdos below.
Left : The fishtail braid | Center : The braid that leads into a bun | Right : The Topknot

If you use the tricks from above and follow my make-up rules you will make it trough summer without any problems! Your hair will always stay in place, it will look shiny and healthy, and it will be easy to managed. Plus, your skin won't be burned and your make-up won't look melt down! Stay tuned because in the next days I will post steps-by-steps tutorials on how to do these hairstyles! You don't want to miss that!

Couldn't agree more! I wear sunscreen on my face every day of the wear (instead of moisturizer). I also agree on not wearing foundation during summer...the face has to breathe!
